Wilhelm Anger choose the name Carrera taking inspiration from the Mexican car race Carrera. Carrera iconic aviators have a contemporary touch with thick-plastic frames, round and cat-eye optics have a futuristic twist and geometric lines, well-known also between the younger audience. Aside from Optyl, the thermodynamic plastic patented by Carrera which is able to resist extreme temperatures, other frame materials are acetate, rugged titanium and monel metals while lenses are both polarized and non-polarized, mirrored or gradient.
